The Patrick County Cougar football team travelled to Dry Fork last Friday to take on the Trojans of Tunstall. The Cougars, led by a solid ground game of 446 total offensive yards, got an impressive 46-27 win.

The Trojans got on the board first, scoring 7 with 5:50 remaining in the 1st quarter. Four minutes later, Ben Hylton took it 8-yards on the ground to score, followed by a two-point conversion by QB Demontez Hill. Tunstall scored again with 1:13 left in the first.

Boogie Yellock answered with a 52-yard touchdown run, followed by a failed two-point conversion attempt. With 6:16 remaining in the 2nd, Hylton scored on a 21-yard run, with Hill scoring another two-point conversion.

Tunstall made a run at the end of the 1st half, scoring a touchdown and a kick for the point after. The Cougars took a 22-20-point lead into the locker room at halftime.

Thirteen minutes into the 2nd half, Hill runs the 11 yards to score. Yellock added two to the board with a two-point conversion. Tunstall put up one more score with 4:38 left in the 3rd, but it was all Cougars from there.

Hill scored again on a QB sneak, then scored on the two-point conversion. Hylton wrapped it up with a 46-yard run, followed by a successful two-point conversion attempt by Yellock.

Head Coach David Morrison said, “We were very proud of our boys for the way they stepped up and responded on Friday night. Playing in Tunstall is never easy, especially on a Homecoming Night when those guys are coming out fired up and wanting nothing more than to beat you and send you packing with a loss.

“I thought our guys did a great job of responding to an extremely tough situation. We learned from our mistakes and only got better as the game went on. We had great effort across both fronts, and we are getting better at the skill positions too. This was a total team win, everyone contributed, and we’re very proud of their efforts and the steps they’ve taken to move this team in the right direction.”
