Cris Komons Kastretsios, age 93 passed away peacefully on December 4, 2022, in Stuart VA to begin her renewed, eternal life in Heaven.

Cris was born on September 16, 1929, in Logan WV, one of three children to Greek immigrants, John and Mary Komons. She graduated high school in Charleston, WV and worked at the West Virginia State Capitol, Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC and finally at the office of her husband, Dr. John Kastretsios after the family moved to Stuart in August 1963, Where Dr. Kastretsios became the first-full time general surgeon at RJ Renoylds-Patrick County Memorial Hospital. Cris was active with the Red Cross and American Cancer Society along with her husband. Cris enjoyed world travel with her husband and was extremely well read. Cris will be fondly remembered for her “Jackie Kennedy” looks, her grace, quick wit, love of family and friends and her warm smile.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents, sister Irene Kostas, brother Nick Komons and Dr. John Kastretsios. She is survived by her son, John Kastretsios (Kristin) of Stuart, daughter Helen Ferst (Peter) of Florida, granddaughter Katina Cairnes (Nick), great granddaughters Elena and Harper Cairnes, nieces Maria Gardina and Demetria Heatwole (Jim), great-nephew James Gardina and great-niece Nikita Heatwole.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Patrick County Chapter, P.O. Box 1301, Stuart, VA  24171.
