Dalton Lee Derrow entered the world quickly and joyfully on February 15, 2025, in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Even in his earliest days, he was known for his radiant smile – smile so bright and contagious it brought light to everyone around him.  His giggles filled every room with warmth and joy, and those cherished moments will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Dalton passed peacefully in his sleep on May 30, 2025. Though his life was brief, he left a lasting impact of love.

Dalton is lovingly survived by his mother, Alice Helms Derrow, and father, Justin Scott Derrow, both of Harrisonburg, Virginia; his big sister, Olive Riane Derrow, of Harrisonburg, Virginia; his grandparents, Earlene and Clayton Helms, Brent Derrow and Liz Porcaro; and his great-grandparents, Robert Smith, Francis Derrow and Evona Helms.

He is also survived by his aunts and uncles; April Helms and her devoted partner Jackson Hawes, Jeff and Jessica Jones, Ethan Derrow, Carla and Paul Pavon, Christina and Jake Snyder, and Ashley Whitehead; Dalton was dearly loved by many great uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Vicki Smith; great-grandfathers, Coy Helms, Warren Derrow, and Earl Spady; great-grandmothers, Janice Smith and Mary Rose Spady; his uncle, Justin Helms; and his cousins, Zachary Ross and Zachary McBee.

A service to celebrate Dalton’s life will be held on June 14, 2025 at Conner’s View Primitive Baptist Church in Meadows of Dan, Virginia. The family will receive friends and loved ones beginning at 12:00 noon, with the service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In honor of Dalton’s bright and joyful spirit, the family kindly asks attendees to wear bright and cheerful colors to reflect the sunshine he brought into all of our lives.

For friends and family in Harrisonburg and beyond who are unable to attend, a separate celebration of life service will be planned and announced at a later date. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
