Virginia Cooperative Extension, in conjunction with the Patrick County Recreation Department, is offering its “Kids on the Move” day camp for children ages 5-10 from June 17th-21st, 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, at DeHart Park in Stuart.

The camp is designed to give kids five days of active fun, while teaching them how to make healthy food and drink choices. Campers will spend their mornings playing group games and will have fun creating various art projects. After a healthy lunch, campers will spend their afternoons swimming at the DeHart Park pool. Two morning field trips are tentatively planned during the week as well. As a special treat, campers will walk to the Stuart Farmer’s Market on Friday morning and will be given tokens to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.

Healthy snacks will be provided morning and afternoon and campers will be encouraged to drink water throughout the day. Each camper will receive a “Kids on the Move” T-shirt.

The camp fee is $50 per child. Enrollment will be limited to 40 campers. Registration must be completed by May 31. Call Terri Alt, Family and Consumer Science Extension Agent at the Patrick County Extension office, at 694-3341 to register or for more information.
