Dennis Wayne Gates, 59, of Ararat, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016.
He was born on April 25, 1957 and was a son of the late Robert McCree Gates Sr. and Betty Lou Davis Jones. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Deborah Gates and Libby Edwards; brothers, Robert McCree Gates Jr. and George William Gates; brother-in-law, Clay Edwards; and a nephew, Dale McCormick
Surviving are his long-time companion, Phyllis Scales, her children, Ashley Hawks and Crystal Bowman and two grandchildren; his daughters, Jennifer Gates and Casey Gates; stepfather; Rev. George Junior Jones; his sister, Sandra Holder; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Butch Holder and George Junior Jones officiating.
