Dogtown Roadhouse to host Mardi Gras

Floyd Mardi Gras will return to Dogtown Roadhouse on Saturday, February 6, for what promises to be the funnest Floyd Mardi Gras yet.
On a cold February night in 2010, bands, dancers and a wildly dressed audience partied in The Sun Music Hall for the very first Floyd Mardi Gras Costume Ball. That venue is now Dogtown Roadhouse, and Floyd Mardi Gras has been held in three different locations. Now it’s homecoming time for this Blue Mountain School fund-raiser.
Headlining the celebration is Washington, D.C., sensation Sol Roots, backed by the all-star Lagniappe—this year featuring members of Monster Atlantic, Alliens, The Color J, and a host of special guests. Opening for Sol Roots and Lagniappe are Blacksburg boogie-meisters Badunkafunk; and—playing everything from the old time to the far side—Buddhagraph Spaceship make its Floyd debut.
Blue Mountain School alumni Subject To Demolition will make its debut; and DJ RahBee will fill out the night with all fresh beats. Gyroscopic will return with a stunning dance show, and VJ artist zer0-G will offer mind-altering visuals. The emcee is Scott Smith.
In the spirit of homecoming, the live auction will return with auctioneer Tom O’Neill, Esq. The silent auction will take over the Winter Sun Clothing Store next door to Dogtown, alongside the gambling tables that are being introduced this year for anyone feeling lucky.
Everyone’s potentially a winner anyway, with the 50/50 raffle and all sorts of prizes, including chef’s choice for two at Mickey G’s for the evening’s best costume. The biggest prize of the night is the crowning of 2016’s Floyd Mardi Gras king and queen.
Stay and Dine packages are available from Floyd Lodging Association. Oddfellows Restaurant and Dogtown Roadhouse are providing Mardi Gras-themed food and drinks.
Mardi Gras isn’t just for the adults. Children get to party too at the Kiddy Gras Pajama Party, just up the road at The June Bug Center. Hosted by Rebbecca Jackson, this is one of the best nights of the year on any kid’s calendar. Get tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
Tickets are available at Blue Mountain School, Republic of Floyd, Winter Sun Clothing, Dogtown Roadhouse and online at www.bluemountainschool.net.floyd mardi gras sol_1 floyd mardi gras BFUNK
