A public meeting to discuss the long-range plan for Fairy Stone State Park will be July 28 at 6 p.m. at the park’s Fayerdale Hall Conference Center, 1003 Fairystone Lake Drive, Stuart.
Staff with the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation will provide an overview of proposed updates to the park’s master plan.
Each state park has a master plan that guides development. Plans are updated every 10 years.
“Master plans outline the desired future condition for a park when it is fully developed,” said DCR Park Planner Bill Conkle. “We welcome public input in the planning process.”
The draft master plan for Fairy Stone proposes a visitor center, enhancements to the amphitheater, renovation of 25 cabins, campground upgrades and renovation of the beachfront area.
The 4,741-acre park is situated on Fairy Stone Lake in Patrick and Henry counties.
Comments about this master plan update will be accepted through August 28. Written comments should be submitted tobill.conkle@dcr.virginia.gov.
