So much of Patrick County’s heritage centers around the kitchen table. Gathering together brings back memories of relatives cooking up a favorite treat or special recipe for the family.

The Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street exhibit, “Crossroads: Change in Rural America” is set to be displayed at the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce office December 4 through January 9.

The Patrick County Extension Office is planning to add to this exhibit by showcasing treasured Patrick County family recipes, and we are hoping many residents will share some that are part of their family’s legacy. The extension office will reprint these recipes to share with exhibit attendees.

What recipe best represents your family history? We’d love you to share that with us. What memories do you associate with this recipe? We’d love that story as well.

If you are willing to be a part of our exhibit, call the Extension Office for an entry form at 276-694-3341. You may also send in a photocopy or scanned recipe card. Please do not send us the original. Copies of recipes and your written memories related to that recipe can be mailed to the following address:  Patrick County Extension Office, ATTN: Terri Alt, PO Box 408, Stuart, VA 24171. Recipes also may be emailed to talt@vt.edu. In addition, you may bring your recipe to our office during normal business hours, and we will photocopy it for you. Thanks for helping us add a piece of Patrick County to this upcoming exhibit.
