From all accounts, the turnout for the last Learning Garden workshop of the year was great. During the workshop, the Patrick County Master Gardeners provided information on garlic and turmeric cultivation as well as creating an ecotone and using lawn waste to make fertilizer. The event culminated in planting a garlic bed at the Learning Garden.

The master gardeners will be at Mistletoe Market on Dec 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., with gift ideas for the gardener or nature lover on your list.

If you are interested in joining this dynamic growing group of volunteers, a new Master Gardener trainee program is expected to begin in March. Call the Patrick County Cooperative Extension Office at (276) -694 3341 for more information.
