Twin County Regional Healthcare rang in 2021 with the year’s first bundle of joy. Weighing 6 pounds and 1 ounce and measuring 19 inches, Sadie was born to Katrina and Ryan, January 1, 2021, at 7:15 a.m.

“The birth of the first baby of 2021 not only signifies the beginning of a new year, but renews and restores hope to our community during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Katherine F. Bryant, OB/GYN at Twin County Regional Healthcare. “This past year has seen unprecedented challenges in modern healthcare and our staff and physicians have risen to these challenges to ensure patients continue to have positive experiences while receiving exceptional care. The goal of the Women’s Health Unit at Twin County Regional Healthcare continues to be providing a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for all patients.”

“This was a very special moment,” said Dr. Guarav Nayyar, MD, attending pediatrician. “Last year has been a difficult year for everyone. This baby is going to bring a lot of hope and joy to the family members and I wish this New Year does the same for everybody in our community.”

“We are very grateful for Twin County Regional Healthcare,” said Katrina. “Everyone was patient, helpful and kind. Sadie made her appearance a week early and having a baby during a pandemic is a little heavy on the nerves, but Dr. Bryant, the nurses and staff helped us feel at ease.”

“Twin County Regional Healthcare Women’s Health Unit is committed to providing high quality care close to home for new and expecting parents,” said Gregory Pearson, Chief Executive Officer.  “TCRH provides an outstanding team of clinical and support staff to bring new life into this world and our community on New Year’s Day and year-round.”

Twin County Regional Healthcare thanked those who contributed to the family, including Adam’s Jewelers, Applebee’s Restaurant, Bojangles, Cassie’s Boutique, Chapters Book Store, Christ Chapel, County Line Cafe, El Rio Grande, Food City, Guynn Furniture & Mattress Company, Hardees, Hillcrest Baptist Church, Horton’s Supermarket, Ideal Florist, Mule Hell Trading Company, RJ’s Pizza and Sub Restaurant, Roy’s Diamond Center, Schewels Home (Galax), Subway (Galax), Twin County Regional Healthcare, The Galax Cakery, Vaughn-Bassett Furniture, and Wendy’s (Galax).
