The 2018 Patrick County real estate tax statements were mailed on April 24th.

The design of the statement is the same as in 2017: a single statement with two payment stubs.  Each stub states the appropriate due date and amount.

The first half of 2018 real estate tax is due June 5. The second and final half is due December 5.  Taxpayers are mailed one notice for each real estate parcel owned, and it is the taxpayers’ responsibility to bring or mail payments by each due date.

Reminder notices will not be mailed.

Taxpayers are encouraged to read the statement carefully.

Also, note that the amount due on each stub is not always the same. Taxpayers are encouraged to be sure to send the correct amount with the correct stub.

If they prefer, taxpayers may pay the annual amount in full by sending both payment stubs, along with the annual amount due, by the June 5th due date.

A 10 percent penalty is added to the first half of unpaid taxes on June 6th.  Interest at a rate of 10 percent per annum will begin to accrue on unpaid taxes and penalty 26 days after each due date.

An insert is included with the tax statements explaining the real estate due dates.

If you do not receive your 2018 real estate tax notice by the middle of May, call the Treasurer’s Office at (276) 694-7257.

The Patrick County Treasurer’s Office is located at the Veterans Memorial Building, Room 221 in Stuart.  The mailing address is:  P.O. Box 668, Stuart, Va., 24171.
