Boy Scout Troop #65 in Stuart awarded the BSA rank of Eagle Scout to Sean Flannagan and Duncan Merritt on Sunday, August 13.

Sean completed his Eagle Scout project with the Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Department in Patrick Springs. He built and installed turnout gear boxes inside the fire station and built a block retaining wall at the fire station entrance.

Sean earned his Eagle Scout rank on January 29. He is the son of Clyde and Tina Flannagan of Patrick Springs.

Duncan completed his Eagle Scout project at the newly-built JEB Stuart Rescue Squad building in Stuart. He was responsible for designing, planning and executing a newly-renovated landscape around the rescue squad building.

Duncan earned his Eagle Scout rank on November 20, 2016. He is the son of Dale and Kim Merritt of Stuart.

Both Scouts are 2017 graduates of Patrick County High School.

Sean will be attending Patrick Henry Community College this fall and continuing his education in auto diesel mechanics in Forsyth Technical in the spring.

Duncan will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall where he will pursue a degree in animal and poultry sciences.

Both Scouts thank everyone who played a role in shaping their scouting careers. They offer special thanks to former scoutmaster Ron Meadows and current scoutmaster Jonathan Wood.
