Maestro David Stewart Wiley will lead an ensemble of Roanoke Symphony principal musicians in some of Mozart’s most beloved music on May 7 at 7 p.m. The concert, sponsored by Virginia’s Blue Ridge Music Festival, will be held at the Floyd EcoVillage.
The concert will be preceded by an optional intimate dinner at 5:30 p.m., presented by Cast Iron Catering. Diners will be serenaded by young musicians, and will have an opportunity to chat with Maestro Wiley and RSO principal musicians Akemi Takayama (violin), Kathleen Overfield-Zook (viola), and Kelley Mikkelsen (cello). Attendees will have the opportunity to view a special exhibit presented by the Floyd Artists Association.
In addition to Mozart’s G Minor Piano Quartet (K. 478) and Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in Eb Major for Violin & Viola (K. 364), the concert will include a premier of bluegrass infused music composed by Maestro Wiley—danced by artist Katie Wells. VBRMF scholarship recipient Elizabeth Shelor will perform the exquisite 5th Air Varie by Dancla.
The evening will be completed with a light reception and the opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors, and, weather permitting, to enjoy the patio and pond. The wine vendor will be Villa Appalaccia.
For program information, as well as concert and dinner tickets, visit vbrmf.org or call or visit the Jacksonville Center for the Arts at (540) 745-2784.
