Garry Glenn DeBruhl, who was elected to five terms in the Virginia House of Delegates, died Saturday, Dec. 24. He was 86.
DeBruhl’s service at the state level was between 1968-1978. He then served as a lobbyist.
DeBruhl, of Stuart, also was a former member of the Patrick County School Board, and had been a member of Mountain Home Masonic Lodge #263 for 50 years. He taught Sunday school at Stuart Baptist Church.
Del. Wren Williams, R-Stuart, said he was saddened to learn of DeBruhl’s death.
“The Honorable Garry DeBruhl spent a lifetime serving our home of Patrick County, our district, and our Commonwealth,” Williams said in a social media post. “I knew Garry as a neighbor and as a respected elder in our community. We will all miss Garry and feel the loss, knowing he is no longer with us.
This session, I will carry a memorial resolution to present to his family, commemorating Garry’s legacy.”
