A Stuart man was charged in connection with an alleged robbery and abduction, according to Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith.

Dionte Morris Nowlin, 20, of 110 Houchins Cove, was arrested on Friday, Dec. 30, following an investigation by Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Austin.

Smith stated a victim called the sheriff’s office shortly after 6 a.m. on Dec. 30. She alleged an incident occurred shortly after midnight on December 29 during which she had been forcibly held her against her will at gunpoint. Allegations also were made that she was assaulted, made to take off her clothes, and her clothes subsequently burned.

The victim had significant facial injuries as a result of the alleged assault, Smith said.

Deputies executed a search warrant on Thursday, Dec. 29, at Nowlin’s residence, and collected evidence, according to Smith.

Nowlin is being held without bond on charges of armed robbery, abduction by force, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, assault and battery and destruction of property.

The sheriff is asking anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Lt. Austin at (276) 692-5950.
