Enjoy the beautiful autumn colors while listening to talented local musicians at the free music sessions and more before Blue Ridge Music Center closes for the 2017 season
There are just a few weeks left to take in the free daily Midday Mountain Music sessions on the breezeway at the Blue Ridge Music Center. From noon to 4 p.m., local and regional traditional musicians perform and tell stories about the music, musicians, and musical heritage of Southern Appalachia. The Music Center’s is open through Sunday, October 29 and closed for the season until May.
Midday Mountain Music Lineup: -Sundays: Old-Time Jam facilitated by Stu Shenk & The Fisher Peak Timbler. Rattlers (bring your instrument and play along); Mondays: The Buck Mountain Band; Tuesdays and Thursdays: Willard Gayheart & Scott Freeman; Wednesdays: Bill & Maggie Anderson; Fridays: Facilitated Bluegrass Jam (bring your instrument and play along); Saturdays: Clarence & Bobbie Roberts, Sugarloaf Mountain Band, Ron Ireland and others.
Visitors can also explore the Roots of American Music exhibit to learn the compelling stories and national significance of the region’s rich musical heritage. The exhibit serves as an insightful complement to the Midday Mountain Music.
Fall is also a wonderful time to take in the cool weather and autumn show along the Parkway and the Music Center’s two hiking trails, High Meadow and Fisher Peak Loop.
The Exhibit and Visitor Center is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through October 29; Midday Mountain Music is noon to 4 p.m. daily at the center, located at 700 Foothills Road, Galax, or Milepost 213 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
