Sovah Health announced that family nurse practitioner Cynthia Barker has joined its staff and will be providing specialty care for general surgery patients at Sovah Surgical Specialists in Danville.

“Cynthia is no stranger to taking care of patients before, during, and post-surgery,” said Alan Larson, Chief Executive Officer of Sovah Health – Danville. “Her comprehensive background and passion for the operating room and surgical patients will be a valuable asset to our outstanding surgical team.”

Barker comes to Sovah Health from Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she worked as a Registered Nurse Case Manager. She has many years’ experience prior as a scrub nurse in multiple operating rooms.  She received her Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) at Walden University (Minneapolis, MN) and Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Colorado Technical University (Colorado Springs, CO). She specializes in pre and post-surgery care, management of general surgical procedures, removal of temporary wires, casts, sutures or skin clips, has the ability to insert and remove lines, and can monitor devices and drains.
Barker is currently seeing patients at Sovah Surgical Specialists located at 109 Bridge Street, Suite 202 in Danville.
