Girl Scout Troop 1302 had its end of year Recognition Ceremony on May 12. At this meeting a Bronze Award was presented to 7 Junior Girl Scouts for their work with the backpack program at Patrick Springs Primary School (PSPS).

This project provided bags of food with snacks, vegetables, easy fixing foods, etc., that are given to 25 students each week for the months of March, April and May from Providence United Methodist Church (UMC). The rest of the school year, two other churches provide the bags for the students.

The girls worked February through April packing bags before their usual meetings. Several of the girls also presented to their church family’s information on this project and the girls were given food donations to use in the bags from their churches. The girls worked at least 20 hours and some a few more completing this project for their award.

The Bronze Award is the first of three of the highest awards in Girl Scouts. These girls will now be going up to Cadette Girl Scouts next year and will start working on their Silver Award. Congratulations to these 7 girls for their hard work.
