GOP candidate pulls out of November race; committee to meet, consider filling vacancy

Citing personal reasons, Eric O’Connell withdrew from the race for the Peters Creek District seat on the Patrick County Board of Supervisors, according to Wren Williams, chairman of the Patrick County Republican Committee.

As provided by the party plan, the committee will meet June 11 at 6 p.m. in the Motorsports Museum in Stuart to consider candidates and potentially filling the vacancy, Williams said.

Registered committee members are invited to attend, Williams said. However, only registered voters in the Peters Creek District may participate in the ballot to fill the vacancy.

Betthney O’Connell, O’Connell’s wife, is continuing her bid for the district’s seat on the Patrick County School Board.
