The grand opening of Pioneer Surgery Center was celebrated by members of the local business community and hospital staff at a ribbon cutting sponsored by the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce on February 26. Approximately 60 people joined the chamber in touring the newly renovated facility. Located in the old emergency room area, the new pre- and post-operative area provides patients with expanded services while recovering from or awaiting surgeries. Peter DeForest, director of peri-operative services at Pioneer Community Hospital and his wife, Jennifer DeForest, also of Pioneer, led visitors on tours to see the newly upgraded facility. “Superior patient experience is one of the driving forces at Pioneer Community Hospital. The hospital’s commitment to hospitality and customer service is demonstrated by this new remodel and I think the community really appreciates all they are doing here,” said chamber director Tim Collins.
