The Patrick County Varsity football lost at home to GW Danville by a score of 59-0.

Despite the lopsided score and numbers of injuries, the Cougars played as hard as they could throughout the game, but was simply no match for the highly-ranked Eagles.

The Eagles jumped on the Cougars early and led after the 1st quarter 16-0. The Eagles continued to score on big plays on offense and special teams, and led 34-0 at the half. The Cougars were without a quarterback and many other starters by the 3rd quarter, but continued the fight despite the large deficit. The Eagles, however, didn’t let up with the score of 47-0 going into the 4th quarter, they scored their last touchdown with a minute left in the game, to make it 59-0.

Patrick County Head Coach David Morrison only had praise for GW Danville saying they were a “terrific team” but also praised his team’s effort especially in the second half.

The Cougars (1-5) will have a week off before playing the Martinsville Bulldogs.
