Hazel Catherine Mabe Martin, age 93, of Stuart passed away on December 16, 2024 at her home. Mrs. Martin was born in Campbell (Stokes County), North Carolina on October 5, 1931. She was preceded in death by her parents Ollie Berry Mabe and Rilla Iowa Merritt Mabe, her brother Clarence Mabe, and her husband of 70 years Robert (Bobby) Daniel Martin.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughter Karen Martin Wood and husband Danny. In addition, she is survived by her grandson Jonathan Wood and wife Holly, and four great-grandchildren: Benelli Wood, Brooklynn Bocock, Levi Vipperman and Bridgette Whitney (Hunter) all of Stuart
Mrs. Martin worked at United Elastic in Stuart, and then a homemaker where she helped her husband raise dairy cattle, beef cattle, and hogs before later retiring from American Furniture in Martinsville. Mrs. Martin also had a passion for gardening where she raised a vegetable garden as well as flowers including her well known Red Presidential Canna Lilies that she raised for over 50 years.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 18th at 3:00 pm at Norris Funeral Services – Stuart Chapel. Reverend Ronnie Brown will be officiating. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow at Patrick Memorial Gardens with Reverend Ronnie Brown officiating.
