obit helen hyltonHelen “MeMa” Lawson Hylton, age 64, of Woolwine, died Monday, February 29, 2016, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem.
She was born in North Carolina on February 9, 1952 to the late Sammy and Luby Woods Lawson. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Lawson, and two sisters, Bertha Campbell and Margaret Holt.
She loved her special pets, Babe and Skeeter, and her chickens and guineas.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Herbert Hylton of the home; one daughter, Brenda Hylton of Woolwine and her fiancé, Jeff Inman; two grandchildren, Brandon Hylton and Kandis Hylton; a God-granddaughter, Autumn Lawson; two stepgrandchildren, Montana Inman and Cassie Inman; a brother, Rufus Lawson and wife Bonnie of Stuart; a sister-in-law, Roxie Lawson of Westfield, N.C.; five sisters, Nina Hylton of Bassett, Carlene Hylton of Woolwine, Linda Hughes and husband Donnie of Stuart, Alice Hooker of Stuart and Mary Overby of Lexington, S.C.; and a special friend, Everine Davis of Woolwine.
Funeral services were held Friday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Gerald Melton officiating. Burial was in Snow Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
