Helen Martin Harris 64, of Patrick Springs passed away on Saturday August 15, 2020 at her home. Helen was born on December 20, 1955 in Martinsville the daughter of the late Leon Elwood Martin and the late Tracey Irene Atkins. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her stepfather Robert Hampton Stitely. Mrs. Harris was retired from the Henry Co Sheriff’s Office.

Surviving are her loving husband of 46 years James Edgar Harris, son; James Bradley Harris, sisters and brothers – in – law; Robin Woodson and husband Matthew, Angela Lamm and husband Mark. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Helen had two precious dogs Bobby Jo and Bear. Helen had two special caretakers that helped Glenda Howell and Jean Shorter.

The visitation will be Wednesday August 19 from 1-2 p.m. in the chapel of Bassett Funeral Service with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bobby Rakes officiating. Burial will follow in the Purdy – Williams family cemetery. Donations can be made to the Veterans of Foreign War Martinsville and Henry Co, Post #4637 at 22 Vernon Lane Axton, Virginia. 24054 or to Amedisys Hospice Care at 5221 Valleypark Dr #2, Roanoke, Virginia. 24019.

Due to the governor’s requirements for Covid-19, a face covering is required and social distancing is to be observed while visiting at the funeral home.
