The Virginia State Police are seeking help with an ongoing investigation into an alleged arson that occurred July 18 in Patrick Springs.

The blaze destroyed an 1800’s farm house, located at 1288 South County Line Road in Patrick Springs, according to a release from the state police.

A passerby saw the blaze and immediately notified Patrick County Fire and Rescue that the house was on fire and fully engulfed at approximately 5:16 a.m. that morning.  Patrick fire and rescue members, as well as the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene.

The Patrick County Emergency Services requested the assistance of the Virginia State Police, and the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Salem Field Office responded.

Investigators determined the fire originated on the screened in porch at the rear of the unoccupied structure.

Anyone with information regarding the fire, or recalls seeing any suspicious activity on, or around the unoccupied dwelling, is asked to call the Virginia State Police at 540-375-9500; call #77 on a cell phone or by email at questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
