Hospice to hold purse auction fund-raiser

“Handbags for Hospice,” a fund-raiser to benefit Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, will be held Thursday, October 20 at 6 p.m. at Piedmont Arts in Martinsville.
As its name suggests, the event will include an auction of new or gently used purses that have been previously owned by celebrities such as former Miss America Lee Meriwether, Dana Delaney, Anna Wood, and Jeanne Robertson and other local celebrities..
Other items from local vendors will also be available for silent auction. These items will include racing and football memorabilia, along with North Carolina State basketball tickets.
Music by Dr. Z and The Riff Raff will begin at 8 p.m..
Proceeds from this event will support in-home patient care.
Tickets are available for $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Call Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at the Martinsville Office at (276) 403-4764 to contact Kim Chitwood or Bren Hankins.
Hospice services are designed to help people who live with serious, progressive medical conditions. It treats the physical condition of the patient as well as his or her emotional and spiritual needs.
