Thousands of tourists drive through Patrick County in October, many en route to view the fall colors along the Blue Ridge Parkway, according to the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce, which unveiled a new scarecrow contest.
The contest is a “way to say thanks for coming while incorporating social distancing,” the chamber said in a release. Visitors may opt to view the scarecrows from their vehicles.
The chamber is encouraging businesses, churches, organizations, and individuals to join the fun, and maintains that “the more scarecrows across the county, the better.”
The chamber will help promote scarecrows and business by providing posters for business windows, sharing photos on our social media posts, WHEO radio advertising and an ad in The Enterprise.
An online gallery and a Voting Poll also will be created, with votes and activity tallied from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31 to select contest winners.
Various prizes will be awarded to best scarecrow and to the patrons who visit the most scarecrows. Get started in three easy steps:
*Create your scarecrow masterpiece, theme it to your business.
*Take a picture and fill out the chamber’s Google form.
* Promote your scarecrow and others throughout Patrick County.
