Jackson Ray Bird, Sr.

Mr. Jackson Ray Bird, Sr., age 80, of Stuart, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. He was born in Giles County, Virginia on June 30, 1942, to the late John Johnson Bird and Viola Mulkey Bird Nowlin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Grieco Bird; a granddaughter, Ashley Belcher; a stepfather, Albert Nowlin; three brothers, John, Bobby and George Bird; and a son-in-law, Brett Nichols.

He served in the United States Army. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Stuart where he served in various priesthood callings and as the Stuart Branch President for several years. He worked as a Research Supervisor for Reynolds Homestead.  He was a Certified Arborist and loved being outdoors as much as possible. He was a Boy Scout Master, enjoyed woodworking, riding motorcycles, and was an avid golfer.

Mr. Bird is survived by one daughter, Connie Nichols of Meridian, ID; five sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie and Bobbi Jo Bird of Stuart, Bobby and Audrey Bird of High Point, NC, Kenny and Debbie Bird of Meadows of Dan, Matt and Tonya Bird of King, NC, Teddy and Stacie Bird of Greer, SC; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; two sisters, Annette French and Judy Bird, both of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Patrick Memorial Gardens.  Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
