Mr. James Edward Holt, age 73, of Westfield, NC, was called home to be with the Lord on April 17, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Mr. Holt was born in Patrick County, VA on May 23, 1949, to the late Harvey Holt and Virginia Lawson Holt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Benny, Henry, and Jack. Mr. Holt is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mrs. Regina Lawson Holt, one son and daughter-in-law, Jamie Holt and wife Natalie of Pippa Passes, KY; five brothers, Claude Holt of Claudville, VA, William Holt and wife Karen of Stuart, VA, Leonard Holt and wife Kay of Stuart, VA, Roger Holt and wife Debra of Stuart, VA, and Randy Holt of Mount Airy, NC; four sisters, Mildred Collins of Stuart, VA, Ann Holt of Claudville, VA, Barbara Brown of Claudville, VA, and Audrey Pendleton and husband Delano of Woolwine, VA, his mother-in-law, Roxie Lawson of Westfield, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Holt loved to fish, ginseng hunt, take care of his honeybees, take walks, mow yards, attend bluegrass festivals with his son, flat foot dance, go on picnics on the mountain, and spend time with his family. Mr. Holt was raised on a tobacco farm and worked hard from an early age and was a hard worker throughout his life.

There will be no funeral services for Mr. Holt per his wishes. To honor James, spend some time in nature, go catch a fish in your favorite fishing hole, listen to some good bluegrass music or learn to flatfoot, but most importantly, spend time with the ones you love. These are the things he enjoyed. The Holt family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice for their care and assistance over the past several weeks and every family member, neighbor, and friends for their support, prayers, and meals over the past several weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 129 Veterans Drive, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
