James Garfield Pullins, age 63, of Stuart, died Thursday, June 23, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Patrick County on April 4, 1953, and was a son of the late Fletcher and Martha Phillips Pullins. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Pullins, and two sisters, Genetta Moore and Gertrude Harris.
He attended Mount Calvary Holy Church, had retired from the United States Postal Service, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Surviving are one son, Darryl Pullins of Rochelle, N.Y.; eight sisters, Della Pilson of Woolwine, Mattie Scott of High Point, N.C., Dorothy Pullins of Stuart, Irene Stubblefield of Reidsville, N.C., and Glenda Joseph, Hattie Pullins, Marquentia Pullins and Alesia Bratton, all of High Point; one brother, Laymon Pullins of Georgia; a special niece, Teresa Pullins, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews; and a beloved companion, Booki Pullins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Eldridge Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery.
There will not be a formal wake.
