Mr. James Wallace Collins Jr., age 82 of Stuart, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019. He was born in Patrick County, Virginia on February 26, 1937, to the late James Wallace Collins Sr. and Edith Heath Collins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Shockley Collins; a son, Barry Warren Collins and several brothers and sisters. James had 28 years of service with the Virginia Department of Transportation, running heavy equipment. James will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Collins is survived by one daughter, Camilla Comer and husband, Michael of Madison, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Casey Hawks and husband, Chris and Bryan Comer and wife, Brooke; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emily and Haley Hawks; one sister, Betty Lou Clark of Stuart, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Collins were held September 1, 2019, at Minnie’s Chapel Wesleyan Church with Pastor Gary Combs officiating. Burial was in Minnie’s Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, 2150 HWY 65, Reidsville, N.C., 27320 or to Minnie’s Chapel Wesleyan Church, c/o Dot Overby, 1873 Salem Hwy., Stuart, 24171.
