“What Now?” an acrylic work by Stephen Reese, of Patrick Springs, was named Best-in-Show for the JEB Stuart Art Show.
Merit Awards were presented to Darlene Swain, Sandra Eliassen, Charles Pinkard, Sr. and Linda Park.

Thirty-nine local artists were honored at a reception for the 43rd annual JEB Stuart Art Show at the Reynolds Homestead. The exhibit runs through October 26.

Awards were presented in six categories, as well as more than $2,000 in prizes and money.

The show was judged by Linda Beroth of Walnut Cove, N.C., an oils and acrylics artist and teacher.

This was the first year that the show did not include photography, which will instead be showcased in its own judged exhibition in November and December.

“Photography was becoming a significant segment of the JEB Stuart show, but received only 3 awards,” said senior program manager Lisa Martin. “We want to give our local photographers their due by having a separate show for them.”
