Mr. Jimmy Monroe Stanley, age 78 of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg. He was born in Carroll County on November 20, 1944 to the late Lionel O. Stanley and Helen Hall Stanley. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by a son, Scott Henry Stanley; a sister, Patsy Ann Copenhaven; and the mother of his children, Clara Henry Stanley. He served in the United States Army in Fire Direction Control and had been a lead accountant for Federal Mogul in Blacksburg. He owned Stanley Engines in Christiansburg for 30 years. He enjoyed racing cars, building engines, and loved to tell stories.

Mr. Stanley is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John Trevor and A. Reneé Stanley of Christiansburg; a grandson, Jeffrey Scott Stanley (Stephanie Carol) of Christiansburg; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Parker Stanley and Clara Kimberlynn Stanley; two brothers, Donald L. Stanley of Meadows of Dan and Melvin C. Stanley of Florida, and formerly of Meadows of Dan; a sister, Susie M. Stanley of Laurel Fork; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church. Mr. Stanley’s funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Shawn Carter officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
