Mr. John Douglas Morris, age 71, of Stuart, Virginia passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He was born in Roanoke on November 7, 1953, to the late William McDaniel Morris and Minnie Mae Wilson Morris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kelvin Morris. John was a truck driver his whole life. He liked the outdoors, gardening, and working in his yard. He enjoyed feeding his birds and his deer. He was the kind of man who was always willing to help when asked and would give you the shirt off his back. He dearly loved his family and cherished every moment with them.
Left to cherish the memories of Mr. Morris are his loving wife, they were together 45 years, Carolyn Massey Morris of the home; four children, Jennifer Hylton (Gerald) of Willis, Melissa Morris, Michael Morris, and Mitchell Morris all of Roanoke; several grand puppies and grandchildren; two brothers, William Robert Morris of West Virginia and James Morris (Gay) of Roanoke; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Morris of Roanoke, Deborah Hubbard and Angie Cockerham (Eddie) all of Stuart; one special aunt, Patricia “Patty” McKenney of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service for Mr. Morris will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Richard Dodson officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the funeral home.
