Viola Lee Joyce, 79, of Stuart, VA passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Mulberry Creek Nursing Home in Martinsville, VA. She was born on February 16, 1946 in Patrick County to the late John Henry Gilley and Almarie Deal Gilley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Guy Edward Joyce, and seven brothers and three sisters.
She was a devoted wife and mother, worked at Bassett Walker Knitting and Bassett Chair Plant. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, playing bingo and loved reading the bible. She would tell you her Heavenly Father was first, then her family came after that. We would like to thank all third-floor staff at Mulberry Creek Nursing Home and Rehab in Martinsville, VA for taking great care of our mother.
She is survived by Vivian Hundley (Terry) of Stuart, VA, Gracey Dise (Jack) of Virginia Beach, VA, Winfred Joyce and Brenda Monk both of Stuart, VA, thirteen grandchildren, Pamela Foley and CL Elgin of Martinsville, VA, Joshua and Brandi Dise of Virginia Beach, VA, Cynthia Dise and Jeff Barnaby of Virginia Beach, VA, Carlee Dise of Raleigh, NC, Shane and Alex Joyce of NC, Lindsay Joyce of NC, Rodney Milligan of OH, Allen Milligan of OH, Jessica Milligan of Bassett, VA, Ryan Monk of Roanoke, VA, Jennifer and Anthony Pacella of Chesapeake, VA, Violet Monk and Ben Bowman of Stuart, VA, Ashley Monk of Stuart, VA, six great-grandchildren, Lynzi Haynes of Martinsville, VA, Liliana Dise of Virginia Beach, VA, Issac Willis of Chesapeake, VA, Parker Davis of Virginia Beach, VA, Sophie Davis of Virginia Beach, VA and Sarah Davis of Virginia Beach, VA.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Norris Funeral Services Chapel in Stuart with Pastor John Wingfield officiating. Burial will follow at Sawyers Family Cemetery in Bassett, VA.
The family will receive friends one hours prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Norris Chapel in Stuart, VA.
