Mr. John Gilbert Mitchell, age 86, of Martinsville, VA passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024. He was born on June 25, 1938, to the late Berkley Sanders Mitchell and Pearl Gilbert Mitchell. John was a very successful businessman for many years as a Vice President of J.P. Stevens. After his retirement he ran his own business, Global Training of Martinsville, for many years. He was also a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis Hylton Mitchell; two daughters, Michelle Mitchell Johnson (Todd) of Raleigh, NC and Margaret Mitchell Burkhart; two grandsons, Ian Mitchell Johnson and Jon Anthony Burkhart; a sister, Pauleen Williams; a brother, Robert “Butch” Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
All services for Mr. Mitchell will be private.
