Mr. John Samuel “Johnny” Boles Sr. age 81, of Claudville, VA, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024.  He was born on September 9, 1943, to the late William Russell “Buck” Boles and Ann Pace Boles.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Boles; an infant brother; and a great-grandson, Eli Boles.

Throughout his life Johnny possessed many attributes that will be cherished by those that knew and loved him. Johnny proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Specialist. He was a hard-working and dedicated employee.  Johnny used his strong mechanical abilities while working as a textile worker, and later retired with over 40 years of service. He also drove a school bus for seven years.  Johnny was a faithful member of Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he served as Treasurer and Clerk. Besides enjoying gardening and hunting, one of his greatest joys was his family.  He was a loving husband and proud father and Papa.  Johnny always made sure that his family knew that he loved and supported them. His memory and impact on their lives will live on in their hearts.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, JoAnn Goins Boles; his children John and Bonnie Boles of Mount Airy, Denise and Barry Spillman of Yadkinville, NC, and Darlene Boyce of Stuart, VA; grandchildren, Sam Boles, Austin Boles, Cody Stevens, Jasper Boles, Lilly Boyce, Bilie Joe Boyce, and Dillan Spillman; a great-grandson, Andrew Boles; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Sutphin, Beverly and Howard Tate, Linda and Jackie Spence, Edna East and Sue and Herman Gresaman; and a brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Phyllis Boles.

Funeral services for Mr. Boles will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church in Claudville, VA. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1137 Cox Ridge Road, Claudville, VA  24076.  Online condolences may be made by visiting www.moodyfuneralservice.com.
