Julia Francis Wimbush (Tip) Franklin, 84, of Collinsville, died on Wednesday July 6, 2016, at Blue Ridge in Stuart.
She was born on May 16, 1932 in Martinsville and was a daughter of the late Ella Dillard and the late William Wimbush. She was the wife of the late Gerald Franklin.
She was a residence of Bassett for 30 years.
Surviving are one son, Gerald W. Franklin Sr. of Bassett; two daughters, Joni F. Wade of Martinsville and Carol A. Wimbush of Waldorf, Md.; two granddaughters and one grandson.
She was retired from the Henry County School System where she was a teacher for more than 30 years. She was a member of Oak Hill Cathedral of Glory Church were she served on the Oak Hill Cathedral of Glory Senior Choir, Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school secretary, intercessory prayer warrior and clothes closet ministry. Young at Heart Club, and Sunset Drive Community Awareness Group.
The funeral Service was held Monday at Oak Hill Cathedral of Glory in Bassett with Pastor Todd Foster officiating. Burial was in the Martin Cemetery, Smallwood Drive, Bassett.
Arrangements were by Hairston Funeral Home, Martinsville;
