The JV Baseball Team suffered a 1-11 loss at Staunton River, Monday, May 2.

Broc Taylor started on the mound, pitching one-and-a-half innings, striking out 1, walking 1, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs.  Lucas Taylor finished the 2nd inning walking 2 and allowing 4 runs.

Noah Jessup pitched three innings, striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 3 hits and 1 run.

Broc Taylor had a double and 2 hits and scored the only run for the Cougars.

Caleb Geiger added 1 hit.

“Not a good day for our group,” said Coach Donnie Rakes. “A long bus ride and we left our bats, defense, and pitching back in Patrick County. Staunton River is really good, and it was just one of those games.”

The Cougars dropped another one 2-7 on Thursday, May 5 in a game with Magna Vista.

Hunter Pendleton went the distance on the mound, striking out 7, allowing 7 hits and 7 runs.  Easton Harris, Matthew Allen, and Hunter Heath each had 1 hit.

“I thought it was a really good baseball game between two good teams. It was a 2-1 game going into the 5th with 2 really good pitchers going at it. Defensively, we just didn’t get it done in the last 2 innings, and that was the difference,” said Rakes.

The Cougars are now 13-5.
