It was a short game at home last Tuesday for the Patrick County High School junior varsity softball team when the Lady Cougars defeated George Washington of Danville 16-0 after five innings.
Samantha Helms claimed the win on the mound with three strikeouts and three walks. She allowed only two hits.
According to Coach Megan Conner the Lady Cougars scored 15 runs in the first inning and one in the second inning.
Wednesday, the Lady Cougar JVs suffered a hard loss at Floyd, 4-5 in eight innings.
“Our team played well and we were well matched with Floyd,” Conner said.
Leading hitters were Danielle King, who hit a home run. Brooklyn Caviness and Gracen Kisamore both had key hits to score runs for the Lady Cougars.
Katherine Beckett took the loss on the mound with four strikeouts and one walk.
The JV Lady Cougars played at Bassett Tuesday. They will host Floyd Wednesday and Friday will host Magna Vista.
