On Tuesday, October 17, the JV Lady Cougars of Patrick County High School hosted the Lady Warriors of Magna Vista in the final Piedmont District match of the season. The JV Lady Cougars finished their season winning in two sets 25-17 and 25-22.

Jenny Turner led the charge with five kills and four digs. Lainie Hopkins had six assists and seven aces. Other leading scorers for the Cougars were Lauren Largen with six aces, and Gracen Edwards with five digs. The JV season ended successfully with a record of 10-10.  Regarding the end of this season, Coach Strickland commented, “Overall, I am pleased with how the girls played this season. We are a relatively young team of mainly freshman, but we played many times at a higher level than expected for junior varsity. We have only two sophomores who will move up next year, so we should be very strong for the next season.

“Reflecting on this season, I know that we need to develop more mental toughness in situations where we are struggling to compete against a tougher opponent. I have been very blessed to work with a great group of girls who are just as passionate about the game as I am but who also strive to work together and to play for each other,” he added.
