JV softball picks up two wins

The Patrick County JV Softball team got a 17-8 win over Christiansburg on April 29. Lainie Hopkins was credited with the win in the circle, striking out nine and walking five. Brooke Meade and Samantha Harris led the Lady Cougars with four hits each. Harris had two doubles, and Meade also added a double. Tessa Haas had three hits. Lainie Hopkins, Shakira Johnson, Brittany Wood, and Hannah Howard added one hit a piece for Patrick County. Wood also had a double. Abby Compton added one hit and a single as well.

The Lady Cougars beat Martinsville 14-0 on April 30. Samantha Harris got the win in the circle, striking out nine and walking two. Harris also led the team in the box with four hits and three doubles. Autumn Heath and Emily Helms both had three hits and one double. Brittany Wood had three hits, Hannah Howard had two hits and one double, and Tessa Haas had two hits. Brooke Meade, Lindsey Quessinberry, and Alexis Knight had one hit each with Knight also adding a triple.

The Lady Cougars are now 8-8 in the season.
