JV team gets four wins

The JV Baseball Team had a busy week, winning all four games. 

The Cougars hosted Staunton River Monday, April 25 getting a 6-2 win over the Golden Eagles. 

Lucas Taylor threw 4 innings, striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 5 hits.  

Noah Jessup took the mound in the 5th, striking out 6, walking 1 and allowing 2 hits. Jessup had 2 hits and scored 2 runs.  

Broc Taylor and Avery Brintle had 1 hit each. 

Coach Donnie Rakes said, “It was a good baseball game. Staunton River is a quality team. We played, with the exception of one inning, excellent defense. Lucas and Noah threw strikes and we battled at the plate only striking out twice. Those 3 things will win most baseball games. It did tonight.”  

The Patrick County team traveled to Dan River on Thursday, April 28, and cruised to a 14-0 win over the Wildcats in 5 innings. 

Hunter Pendleton went the distance on the mound, striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing no hits.  Pendleton, Matthew Allen, and Caleb Geiger had 1 hit each. 

Jessup, Brintle, and Lucas Taylor had 2 hits each. Broc Taylor had 2 hits, a double, and a triple.  

On Friday, April 29, the Cougars hosted GW Danville for a double header.  

The Cougars had a 15-0 win in the first game and a 13-0 win in the second.  

Avery Brintle had 4 strikeouts and Easton Harris had 3 strikeouts while on the mound the first game. Neither pitcher allowed and runs or walked any batters.  

Broc Taylor and Brintle had two hits each. 

Lucas Taylor had 2 hits and a triple. 

Bubba Errichetti, Chance Corns, and Caleb Geiger had 1 hit each.  

Matthew Allen had 1 hit and a triple. Allen and Corns threw for a combined 3 innings in the second contest.  Alenn struck out 4 and walked 1. Corns struck out 2. 

Taylor had 2 hits. Harris, Hunter Smith, Caleb Geiger, and Seth Geiger all had 1 hit each.
