The JV Cougars traveled to Floyd March 22, winning a close one 2-1.

Broc Taylor pitched 3 innings for the Cougars, striking out 5, allowing 1 hit and 1 run. Hunter Pendleton pitched 4 innings, striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 hit. Noah Jessup had 2 hits for the Cougars.  Pendleton, Avery Brintle, and Caleb Geiger added a hit each.

Coach Donnie Rakes said, “Really good Baseball game. Really good win for our young team. Broc Taylor and Hunter Pendleton really pitched an excellent game, allowing only one unearned run and striking out 13. We really battled in the 6th and 7th innings at the plate and came through with two suicide bunts for runs and the win. Very proud of the grit we showed.”

Patrick County traveled to Bassett Friday, getting a 12-3 win over the Bengals.

Lucas Taylor pitched 2 innings, striking out 4, walking 2, allowing 1 hit and 1 run.

Matthew Allen threw for 2 innings, striking out 1, walking 3, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. Broc Taylor finished the game pitching 2 innings, striking out 1 and allowing 1 hit. Jessup, Pendleton, and Bubba Errichetti each had a double and two hits.  Easton Harris, Brintle, and Geiger all had 1 hit each.

“Good team win for the young Cougars. The bats really came alive this game with 12 hits resulting in 9 RBIs. That was encouraging to see. Lucas continues to pitch really well, and Broc Taylor is really coming along on the mound with solid outings,” said Rakes.

The Cougars are 4-0 on the season.
