Cindy D. Kendrick is seeking the Commissioner of the Revenue position in the November election.

Cindy D. Kendrick will seek to fill the unexpired remainder of retired Commissioner of the Revenue Janet Rorrer’s term in a Nov. 2 special election.

Rorrer retired from the post on June 30.

Kendrick, who currently is the interim Commissioner of the Revenue, began working in the office as a Deputy Commissioner in February 2004. She was promoted to Chief Deputy Commissioner in 2012. Kendrick later obtained her certification as a Master Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue in 2015 through the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service and a program by the University of Virginia.

Kendrick said she feels her experience of more than 17 years has prepared her for the opportunity.

“Every taxpayer who calls or comes in our office deserves to receive exceptional customer service and be treated respectfully and fairly,” she said. “I would be honored to be the next Commissioner of the Revenue and would appreciate the support of the citizens of Patrick County.”

Kendrick, a Patrick County native, is a 1990 graduate of Patrick County High School. She obtained an associate degree in business management from the former Patrick Henry Community College, now Patrick & Henry Community College.

Kendrick lives in Patrick Springs with her husband Rodney. They attend the Mountain View Church of God of Prophecy, where she has served as treasurer for more than 10 years.
