Kenneth Green Harbour, age 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 4, 2022. With his passing, he was reunited with his beloved wife, Joan Darlene Williams Harbour, his parents, John Estel Harbour and Nova Ellen Pendleton Harbour, and brother, Camden Harbour.
Mr. Harbour is survived by daughter, Darlene Harbour Boyd and husband, Richard Boyd of Meadows of Dan; son, Tracy Kevin Harbour and wife, Tatjana Adams of Burlington, NC; and two precious grandchildren, Jessie Alexandra Harbour and John Grayson Boyd; brother, Lloyd Harbour and wife, Mary; sisters, Regina Pendleton and Janice Rorrer and husband, John Rorrer; sister-in-law, Linda Harbour Hopkins.
He was employed at United Elastic/J.P. Stevens in Westfield, NC and later Stuart, VA. Kenneth was a lover of history, his county and his family. He was passionate about genealogy, and he could tell most locals more about their family than they knew themselves. He would often remark to someone, “I don’t know who you are, but I can see who your grandpa was.” For many years, he spearheaded the Harbour family reunion, and was honored at the most recent one at the end of August for his dedication to our family. His love of history and talent for all things mechanical gave way to his passion for antique cars. He loved restoring them, showing them and reminiscing about them. He was also a wonderful carpenter, who built his family a loving home doing nearly all of the construction himself. His memory was remarkable. His wonderful stories of his life will be both cherished and missed by all who knew and loved him so much.
Funeral services for Mr. Harbour will be held Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Jack’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Kamada officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the arrangements, and online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
