Following the state tournament in June, the Patrick County High School Lady Cougar softball team was awarded the prestigious VHSL Sportsmanship Award for the Group 3A state tournament. The plaque is being presented to Principal Trey Cox and Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Terry Harris by Lady Cougar assistant Coach Nikki Handy.
“The team wants it known that while the award will reside at PCHS, this award is for all the fans throughout the town and Patrick County who supported them throughout the season, including those lining the streets of Stuart as they left town for the regional and state tournaments,” said Handy. “Thanks to you, the fans, for helping us to receive this award. You deserve this award too!” she added. “Thank you, Patrick County, from the Lady Cougar Softball Team.”
