The Lady Cougars hosted the Lady Trojans of Tunstall on January 7, and jumped out to a quick lead, outscoring Tunstall by 16 in the 1st quarter.

Patrick County had a 38-8 lead at the half.  The Cougars continued their dominance in the 2nd half, cruising to a 53-15 win.

Aniya Penn was the leading scorer for PC, putting up 15 points. Penn had 8 rebounds, one steal, and three assists.

Abigail Epperson had 14 points, three rebounds, three steals, and one assist.

Samantha Harris added seven points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

“This was a real team win for our girls,” said Head Coach Donny Rakes. “Everybody played a ton of minutes and really shared the ball well. We were very unselfish, and it showed with 19 assists. That’s a big number for a high school basketball game.

“I thought we played pretty good help defense tonight. That is something we really have been focusing on in practice,” Rakes said, adding that he was “proud of their effort tonight.”
