Landmark residents and guests celebrated January birthdays January 19 with the monthly birthday party. All enjoyed cake, ice cream, and punch provided by Landmark Catering and the dining team. Gifts were donated by staff.
After the party, residents played a game using National Hat Day as the theme. Earlier in the day, volunteers Jim Purcell and Lynn Wolf led a sing-along.Sunday afternoon, January 21, was Squirrel Appreciation Day. Residents answered trivia questions with Betty Jo Meadows emerging as the winner. Residents also shelled peanuts for a tasty treat. January 22, residents celebrated National Pie Day with a pie social in the game room. Residents traveled to a local restaurant for lunch January 23, and shopped locally on January 25 and February 1. On January 30, they traveled to Martinsville to shop were one dollar goes a long way.Volunteer Helen Cowley leads the Landmark Cooking Club each Wednesday afternoon; she is joined by Ann Sheppard, staff, and residents. In the month of January we have created chocolate covered cherry cookies, creamy apple custard pie, cranberry orange cheese all, Hawaiian Chex Mix, and fried fruit pies. The best part of cooking is tasting the finished dish.

If you would like to send a message to a loved one in the community you may pick the cookies up on or before February 14, at The Landmark Center. The deadline to order is February 9. Cost is $3 for each Cookie-Gram. A little something sweet—we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with Landmark residents and family on February 14 in the Landmark living room. Something new is coming to The Landmark Center. Beginning February 24 from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Landmark dining room, we will be serving brunch to the residents and their family members.
