Leon B. Gusler, 89, of Stuart passed away on Monday, July 27, at Roanoke Carilion Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on December 16, 1930 to the late Eva Agee Gusler and Walter B. Gusler.

He attended Fieldale High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Stribling. He was employed by Sale Knitting/Tultex for more than 30 years and was a member of Stuart United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Vaughn Gusler.

Surviving are three sisters: Edith Jones of Virginia Beach, VA, Geraldine Lawless of Stuart, Evadell Rodgers of Silver Springs, MD, and a special friend, Irene Byrd, of Martinsville. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Stuart United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 946, Stuart, VA 24171 or New Hope United Methodist Church Building Fund c/o Carroll Eastridge, 2789 Wayside Rd, Stuart, VA 24171. Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.

The family wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to Dr. Price and the nurses and staff at Roanoke Carilion for their compassionate care of Leon during his final weeks.
